Ninety-three percent of U.S. adults support their local park and recreation agency collecting data from monitoring systems – like cameras, counters and/or visitors’ cellphones. The top reasons the public supports their local park and recreation agency collecting data from monitoring systems include to prevent and lower crime in park and recreation spaces, understand how people are using park and recreation spaces, improve access to parks for all community members and help park and recreation departments manage staffing and other needs. Additional reasons include counting the number of visitors in particular parks and recreation spaces, support requests for additional funding for parks and recreation and to measure how park and recreation spaces impact the local economy.
