April 2017: Initiatives that protect the environment are among the many activities that local governments provide for their residents. These initiatives can include sustainable or green practices, such as, water quality monitoring, green space assessment, environmentally-friendly buildings, and lawn upkeep.
An overwhelming majority (83 percent) of Americans say it is important that their local government prioritizes environmental initiatives. Strongest support for these initiatives are found among Millennials where 63 percent say it is extremely or very important.
