Ninety-four percent of U.S. adults agree there is a fringe benefit that they would like to see their employers offer. Fringe benefits are non-wage benefits or perks provided to employees outside traditional healthcare and time-off offerings. Flexible work hours followed by mental health coverage and continuing education reimbursement are the most sought-after fringe benefits by U.S. adults.

The most offered fringe benefits for park and recreation professionals are employee assistance and counseling and continuing education opportunities.

Key Findings:

  • Ninety-four percent of U.S. adults agree there is a fringe benefit that they would like to see their employers offer
  • Sixty-two percent of U.S. adults would prefer their employer offer flexible work hours
  • Seventy-two percent of parents with children between 13 and 17 years old prefer their employer offer flexible work hours
  • Adults living in urban areas were most likely to prefer commuter benefits like public transit discounts, free parking or mileage stipends
  • Fifty-three percent of Gen Xers look to their employers to provide wellness programs compared to only around 40 percent of Gen Z, millennials or baby boomers feeling the same
