80% of U.S. adults agree it is important that local government officials reflect
the racial and/or ethnic makeup of the community they serve.
Nine in 10 (90%) park and recreation agencies have activities and policies that promote diversity, equity and inclusion — including 74% of agencies that have instituted hiring practices and policies to promote a more diverse workforce. Additionally, nearly all local government officials agree that their communities benefit from local park areas (99%) and recreation services (98%).
Each month, through a poll of 1,000 U.S. residents focused on park and recreation issues, NRPA Park Pulse helps tell the park and recreation story. Questions span from the serious to the more lighthearted. The survey was conducted by Wakefield Research.
