Benefits are part of a great employment package, and local park and recreation agencies provide many. Some top benefits workers prefer include:

  • Flexible work hours
  • Mental health resources and support
  • Training and/or continuing education reimbursement
  • Wellness programs
  • Investment opportunities

According to the 2024 NRPA Park and Recreation Salary Survey, 79% of local park and recreation agencies fully fund employee assistance/counseling benefits and 76% fully fund continuing education opportunities, such as courses or conferences.

Each month, through a poll of 1,000 U.S. residents focused on park and recreation issues, NRPA Park Pulse helps tell the park and recreation story. Questions span from the serious to the more lighthearted. The survey was conducted by Wakefield Research.
