Nearly all U.S. adults (92%) agree it is important for youth to participate in group activities.

Local park and recreation agencies provide countless low- and no-cost youth programs and activities that foster socialization and team building. These include summer camps (83% of agencies), teen programs (67%), sports leagues (83%) and arts classes (74%), according to the 2024 NRPA Agency Performance Review and the 2021 NRPA Out-of-School Time Report.

Each month, through a poll of 1,000 U.S. residents focused on park and recreation issues, NRPA Park Pulse helps tell the park and recreation story. Questions span from the serious to the more lighthearted. The survey was conducted by Wakefield Research.
