Most U.S. adults (86%) would visit a farmers market in the next 12 months if one was located close to their home.

Factors like geographic setting and race do not play a role in the likelihood of a person visiting a farmers market, indicating that people across varying backgrounds and identities have interest in farmers markets. According to the 2024 NRPA Agency Performance Review, more than 1 in 5 park and recreation agencies manage or administer farmers markets. Each month, through a poll of 1,000 U.S. residents focused on park and recreation issues, NRPA Park Pulse helps tell the park and recreation story. Questions span from the serious to the more lighthearted. The survey was conducted by Wakefield Research.
